The Metropolitan York Police Testing Consortium will be holding entry level testing on Friday,
February 18, 2011 at 7:00 pm. and Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 9:00 am. at the York County
School of Technology, located at 2179 South Queen Street York, PA 17403. This testing will consist
only of the written examination!
All Departments are Equal Opportunity Employers.
Member Departments listed participate in the York County Forensic Team, The York County Drug
Task Force, and the York County Quick Response Team. Each Department offers an attractive
starting salary and elaborate benefits packages.
Many of the participating departments have applicant drug policies, which will be considered
prior to hiring.
Applications/information packets can be obtained at any of the participating departments. A
$40.00 non-refundable fee (check or money order ONLY) will be required with the submission of
the applications. (Please make checks payable to: York Area Regional Police Department).
Applications may be returned in person, or they may be mailed to any of the participating departments.
Mailed applications should be addressed to the chief. There is no guarantee of receipt for those applications
that are mailed.
Acceptance of Applications will close at 5:00 pm on Friday, February 11, 2011.
APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS
- U.S. Citizen
- Age 21 by July 1, 2011—Non-Civil Service Departments
- Age 21 by February 11, 2011—Civil Service Departments
- Must possess a valid PA Driver’s License prior to appointment
- Physically and mentally fit
- In addition to other physical examination criteria:
* The applicant must be able to distinguish a normal whisper at a distance of
15 feet. The test shall be independently conducted for each ear, while the
tested ear is facing away from the speaker and the other ear is firmly covered
with the palm of the hand. The applicant is prohibited from using a
hearing aid during the testing. If the applicant fails the whisper test, a decibel audio test is
required.
* The applicant must have distant vision of at least 20/70, uncorrected, in the stronger eye,
correctable to 20/20; and at least 20/200, uncorrected, in the weaker eye, correctable to
at least 20/40; and must be free of any significant visual abnormalities.
- The applicant must have normal depth perception.
- The applicant must have normal color perception
- The applicant must be free from any other significant visual abnormalities.
Individuals with disabilities who will need reasonable accommodation in order to complete the
test should inform any of the Departments no later than 2 weeks prior to the administration of
the test. The individual requesting the accommodation must provide documentation of the need
for same.
APPLICANTS MAY BE REQUIRED TO PASS A PHYSICAL FITNESS TEST PRIOR TO APPOINTMENT.
